There is a place in Atlanta where the hurting and lost find healing and hope. There is a place in
Atlanta where addictions are broken and hunger satisfied. There is a place that has been a rock
in this community since 1938. This place is My Mission – Atlanta Union Mission.
Throughout history, many of the world’s greatest advancements have been realized through the collective vision of like-minded
individuals. Perhaps one of the greatest examples born right here in our community is Atlanta Union Mission, where principled people
have been coming together for more than 70 years to break the cycle of addictions, abuse, and homelessness.
The word “homelessness” conjures up different images for different people. Our vision is not of how people are before they arrive at
Atlanta Union Mission, rather who they will become when they leave the Mission.
When Vickie Green and others walked through the doors of Atlanta Union Mission,
they may not have known who they were or who they could become. While they were certainly welcomed with open arms, clothed,
sheltered and fed, too often, the perception is that our vision stops there...and nothing could be further from the truth for Atlanta Union Mission.
When we see the faces of homeless individuals walk through our doors, our vision is different from the norm. The collective vision
of Atlanta Union Mission – whether staff, donor, or volunteer – is one that not only meets the homeless where they are, but more
importantly, sees men, women, boys and girls as who they will become.
Our vision – yours and mine – is one that sees each individual as a child of God. We thank you for being such an integral part of
Atlanta Union Mission’s vision… a vision of hope… a vision of results… and a vision of people who will become true, noble, right,
pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy. Join us for a minute and think about such things (Philippians 4:8).
